Gusta Home

Plan the house you have, from your own measurements

Gusta Home is for the house you already live in: draw it from the sizes you measured, see at once which ones do not add up, try an idea beside the real house without touching it, walk through it in 3D and hand a builder a plan to scale. Free, works without an account, and your plans stay on your device.

A furnished one-storey house in Gusta Home: the floor plan with its kitchen, living room, bedroom, hall and bath, each named with its area, on a plot with a terrace, beds and trees, beside the same house in 3D, and a list of what to buy for its paint, tiles, floors and paving
The plan and the 3D side by side: what you draw in the plan rises beside it, and the paint, tiles and boards you chose come out as a shopping list.

What Gusta Home is

A floor planner that starts from the truth. Most planners let you drag a wall to any length and never ask where the number came from. In Gusta Home every size says where it came from: measured with a tape, traced off a drawing, or assumed until you get round to measuring it, drawn so you can tell them apart at a glance. Type the sizes you measured and the plan works the rest out; when two of them cannot both be true, it says which.

Then it is your house to play with. Furnish it, paint it, set the lights, put it on its plot, and when you want to try something bigger, such as opening the kitchen to the living room, make it a concept: a version to change and compare, while the real house stays as you measured it.

Who it is for

Anyone who has just moved in and wants to know whether the sofa will go through the door, anyone planning a kitchen or a bathroom, and anyone about to talk to a builder or a carpenter who wants to arrive with a plan rather than a sketch on the back of an envelope. If you have looked for a free floor planner that works from real measurements, in a browser, with nothing to install, this is that.

What is inside

Drawing what is there

Walls, rooms, doors, windows, floors and stairs. Draw a wall with the mouse or a finger, or walk a room by typing each length and a turn, and the room closes when you come back to where you began. Rooms are found from the walls and named with their areas. Trace over a photo of an old drawing to get started; the photo stays on your device and never goes into the plan's file.

Sizes you can trust

Measured sizes are solid lines, traced ones dotted, assumed ones dashed with a ~ in front. The plan is solved from what you know, so a wall you have not measured takes the length the others leave it, and a size that does not fit is marked and named. Nothing is rounded away quietly.

The plan of a furnished house in Gusta Home on its plot: wall lengths drawn by where they came from, room names and areas, spot heights with contour lines across the garden, and a What to buy list of paint in litres, tiles in boxes, floorboards in packs and paving with its gravel and sand
Every size drawn the way its source says, and the finishes turned into litres, boxes and packs.

Furniture, and whether it goes in

A catalogue of furniture at standard sizes for every room, from beds and sofas to a whole kitchen run with its worktop. A piece that stands in a wall, in a door's swing or in another piece is named. Ask whether a piece will go in, and Gusta Home works out the way from the front door, carried flat, on its side or on end, and names the doorway it sticks in if it does not.

Kitchens, bathrooms and finishes

The kitchen's work triangle, worktops and splashback; the bathroom's drain, falls and where the shower area ends, against the Swedish wet room rules. Paint, wallpaper, tiles, floorboards, paving and gravel at the sizes the trade sells, with what to buy worked out: litres, rolls, boxes and packs with their waste, and a total once you add prices.

The plot, the ground and the sun

The garden around the house: lawns, terraces, beds, paths, trees and hedges, decks, retaining walls and garden steps. Spot heights shape the ground, so a slope, a walk-out or a step at a retaining wall shows in the plan and in 3D. Outbuildings get their own roofs. Pick your town on the built-in map and the 3D shows the real sun for any day and hour, through your windows; nothing about where you live is looked up anywhere.

Cut away the walls nearest you to look into the rooms, in the real sun for your place.

Gusta, the helper that uses the same tools

Gusta checks the house as you draw it and fixes what it can fix for certain: doors that meet, a piece in the way, a floor drain in the wrong place, a raised floor with no steps. Every fix is tried first and kept only when its check then passes, lands as one undo step, and the receipt lists each change with its reason.

That free helper runs on your device for everyone, with no account, and sends nothing. With a free Gusta account you can ask the full Gusta in your own words: furnish the bedroom, a hip roof at 30 degrees, a reading corner by the bookcase. A design idea lands as a concept, so the real house stays as it is, and Gusta never changes a size you measured. It works from the house's words and numbers, and looks at a small drawing of a floor's plan, at most 512 pixels on its long side, only when a request needs sight. When it finishes, it checks again that the sizes add up, every door opens and nothing is in the way, and says what it found.

Ask in your own words: Gusta makes a concept, places what you asked for, checks the house again and lists what it did.

On a phone or a tablet

The whole editor, not a viewer. On a phone you draw with a finger, walk a room by typing its lengths, and the panel under the plan folds to its handle while you draw so the plan gets the screen. Two fingers pinch and pan, the 3D turns with a finger, and on an iPad the plan and the 3D sit side by side.

On a phone: the plan above a panel you can fold away, and the 3D one tap away.

What makes it different

It starts from your measurements. Every size says whether it was measured, traced or assumed, and the plan tells you when the sizes cannot all be true, before a builder finds out on site.

Ideas never overwrite the real house. A concept is a version to change and compare. Fix a measurement in the real house and every concept follows.

Your plans stay on your device. Plans, measurements and traced photos are kept in your browser and in the files you save, and Gustalabs never stores, hosts or shares them. Only when you ask the full Gusta do the house's words and numbers go with your request, and none of it is kept after the answer.

Free to start, no account needed. Every tool, the 3D, every export and the free helper. Only the full Gusta spends tokens, and in the open beta those tokens are granted rather than sold.

Questions people ask

Is Gusta Home free?

Yes. Drawing, measuring, furnishing, the 3D, the concepts and every export, the to-scale PDF included, are free, and so is the free helper version of Gusta that runs on your device, with no account needed. Only the full Gusta, which needs a free Gusta account, spends Gusta tokens. Gustalabs is in open beta, so nothing is for sale yet and those tokens are granted free while we test.

Do I need an account?

No. The editor, the 3D, every export and the free helper work signed out. A free Gusta account adds the full Gusta, and it is the same account that signs you in to the other Gustalabs apps.

Are my plans uploaded?

No. Your plans, their measurements and the photos you trace a plan from stay in your browser on this device, and in the .gustahome files you save; Gustalabs never stores, hosts or shares them, and there are no cloud saves. The free helper sends nothing. When you ask the full Gusta, your request goes through Gustalabs to the AI model with the house's words and numbers, such as the rooms, the walls and their sizes, the furniture and the garden, and only when the request needs sight, one small drawing of a floor's plan, at most 512 pixels on its long side. A photo you traced from is never sent. The page also reports a session count: a random id for that visit, the app name, and when the visit started and ended, linked to your account only while you are signed in. No cookies and nothing you drew.

What if I have not measured everything yet?

Draw it anyway. A size you have not measured is marked as assumed, drawn dashed with a ~ in front of it, so you always know which numbers to check with a tape measure. A size read off a drawing is marked as traced. As you measure, the plan works out again from what you know, and it says when the sizes you typed cannot all be true at once.

Can I give the plan to a builder?

Yes. Export a blueprint PDF to scale, with every measurement drawn the way its source says, plus a What to buy page when you have chosen finishes. A PNG or an SVG of the plan is there too. Furniture is not in the PDF yet.

Does Gusta Home tell me what needs a permit?

It names the rules it knows and never decides for you. A deck, a retaining wall, a raised floor or an outbuilding over the Swedish limits it measures against is named with the numbers, both of them where the answer depends on whether your plot is in a detaljplan. Your municipality decides, and a structural engineer decides what holds a house up: Gusta never does.

Does it work on a phone or an iPad?

Yes, the whole editor. On a phone you can walk a room by typing each length and a turn, and the plan sits above a panel you can fold to its handle while you draw. Two fingers pinch and pan, and the 3D turns with a finger. On an iPad the plan and the 3D can sit side by side.

Where is my plan saved?

On this device, as you go, in your browser's storage. Save a .gustahome file to keep a copy of your own or to move a plan to another computer, and open it again from the File menu. Clearing your browser's data for the site removes what is saved there, so keep a file of anything you would miss.

Open it and draw your first room

Nothing to set up. Open the editor and draw a wall, or open the demo house from the File menu to see a finished one first.
